Scope of Services  

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory will provide diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures for both outpatients and inpatients. These services employ state-of-the-art technology and equipment to remain at the forefront of the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in the region.

Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit is a full-fledged operating suite for elective, urgent and emergency cardiac surgeries. The operating room is well equipped with the best infrastructure including measures for infection prevention and control that conform to international best practice guidelines. Patients undergoing cardiac surgery recover in Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. It is equipped with facilities to support the cardiovascular system including mechanical circulatory support, respiratory, renal systems.

With the support of a multidisciplinary team of Physicians, Nurses and Technicians, patients are usually well enough to be discharged home within a week of a major chest procedure. All CABG procedures shall be primarily done off pump.

The following procedures will be performed:

•Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

•Aortic Aneurysm Resection

•Valve repair and/or Replacement

•Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Repair

•Thoracic - All thoracic surgery including decortication, lobectomy, pneumonectomy mediastinum tumors.

•Heart failure surgery

Cardiac Rehabilitation is provided for post-MI and post-surgery patients and other cardiac groups after assessment of need. Patients can be referred to the service by cardiologists. The program consists of sessions per patient of education and support, coronary risk factor reduction, stress management, smoking cessation classes and exercise training
